Hyde Park
Hyde Park is considered the oldest park in the city and the biggest of the four royal parks in London.
It was originally a private garden used as a hunting ground and belonged to Westminster Abbey until 1536, when it was opened to the public. In its vicinity you can do different activities such as sunbathing, renting sun lounger, riding a bike, skating or even attend some of the speeches given on Sundays by different characters in what is known as Speaker’s Corner.
Kensington Palace and gardens
Kensington Palace is located within the gardens of the same name. The building is a huge country house built with red brick and renovated in 1689 to become the residence of the monarchy for several generations.
Actually, the palace can be visited and toured the former private royal rooms, exhibitions of letters, jewels, dresses and tapestries, as well as the new exhibition of Queen Victoria and another small section dedicated to Princess Diana of Wales.
Kensington garden is located in Hyde Park. During your walk through these gardens you will find the memorial of Princess Diana of Wales, the bronze statue of Peter Pan or the beautiful Orangery, an ancient greenhouse where you can drink a delicious English tea.
Notting Hill
Nothing Hill is a district located in central London, in the western part of the city and near the northwest corner of Hyde Park.
It is a cosmopolitan venue known to celebrate the carnival annually and hosting the Portobello Road market.
This district rose to fame in 1999 after the premiere of the film with the same name, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
Portobello market
It is one of the most famous markets in London. It takes its name from the street in which it is located. There are plenty of stalls and shops on the main street and in Westbourne Grove.
The best day to visit the market is on Saturday morning, when all shops take their products to the street.
Holland Park
This park is located in West London. The area consists of tree-lined streets with large Victorian houses, shops, restaurants and cultural attractions.
It has an area of 22 hectares and is divided into three areas: a northern half of semi-wild forest, a central section of formal gardens and a southern section dedicated to sports activities.
