Are you the type to want to start the new year with a massive party or do you prefer to spend the last of the year in a more relaxed manner? London offers options for both!
We go through some of the best things to do in London on the 31st of December. Let’s start in 2020 with a bang!
1. Marvel in Spectacular Fireworks
The largest NYE event in London is the Mayor of London’s Firework Show. However, tickets for the firework display have already sold out. Not to despair, though – there are still many places where you can forego the £10 ticket fee entirely and witness the fireworks in all their glory. A little insider tip? Wherever you find yourself in the city – if you can see the London Eye then you’ll be able to see the fireworks.
We recommend spots like Cannon Street, Tower Bridge or The Millennium Bridge. Want to avoid crowds? We rate Parliament Hill will be quieter.
2. Enjoy Ice Skating
Want to ring in the new year with a little bit of activity? Then try ice-skating at one of London’s many ice rinks with your friends! London has some of the best ice rinks in the world – choose from gliding around on the grounds of the Natural History Museum or hanging high up in the sky at the Skylight Tobacco Dock rooftop!
3. Party into the New Year
Ready to party your way into the New Year? London provides you with many opportunities to do exactly that! Some parties we recommend? Duck & Waffle, Sushi Samba, The Savoy, Skylight at Tobacco Dock, Candlelight Club and more!
4. Visit Winter Wonderland
A fun way to start your NYE with family or friends – get stuck into the markets, food and drink stalls, giant Ferris Wheel, ice rink, ice kingdom, circus show and more!
5. Attend Comedy Carnival
Choose between venues in Clapham and Leicester Square and pick between just a show ticket or a show + club ticket to continue partying long after the show’s over!
6. Book Tickets for an NYE Cruise
Enjoy a magical cruise on the Thames, where you can watch the NYE fireworks and enjoy live entertainment as you welcome 2020!
How will you be choosing to welcome the new year? Whatever you decide to do, make sure you do it in style!
